Subjective evaluation at Mifa

The WCAM subjective evaluation took place at MIFA in the screening room. The objective was to assess the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video quality respecting the movie screening conditions.

The original video has been buffered to be connected to 18 video monitors. Two sessions have been made with 25 double 10 sec sequences (one original and one with compression process)  extracted from animated movies issued from Festival trailers done by Gobelins school.

These  trial sessions revealed that the quality of the WCAM encoding technology needs to be improved at the rate allocation level, and the interest of the error concealment method toward the method implemented in the reference software.
